Bilateral trade between India and Myanmar is poised for significant growth, reaching well beyond the current $1.76 billion, with the establishment of the RUPEE TRADE settlement mechanism. The RBI has already enabled payments in Indian Rupees, and Myanmar intends to initiate currency convertibility for the Indian Rupee in trade. The Vostro accounts are expected to be fully operational by early 2024, following a June 2023 meeting.
